ORS UK has reported robust growth in its office clearance and move management divisions, leading to both a doubling in size of its vehicle fleet and a new appointment to its sales team.

With 20 years’ experience in the office furniture sector, Herbie Johnson joins as sales manager and will be responsible for sales across both the Aston and Burton offices, as well as expanding the existing new furniture division of the business.

Karl Ward took over the ownership of the business as managing director six months ago and despite being new to the sector, has already grown the client base to include regional big players such as Hammonds, Kier and Severn Trent.

Karl commented: “Acting responsibly is becoming increasingly important to UK companies and the strength of ORS lies in its ability to provide an innovative service which makes both environmental and commercial sense.

“By sustaining our operations levels and increasing our activity in this difficult time, it’s clear that there is a real demand for the services that ORS provides.  In particular, we’ve seen customers requesting office clearances as clients look to downsize or clear their existing furniture. Customer satisfaction is a fundamental part of our operations and we took the decision to increase our transport team in response to this upsurge in demand and to uphold our existing customer service levels.”

ORS UK has also revealed plans to expand in the near future, following recent investment in a new integrated client base IT system and further research into other sources to obtain and save furniture from landfill.

Karl added: “The environmental and business benefits of the service have attracted customers from across the Midlands and wider regions and we believe that the time is right to build upon our existing offer and lay the foundations for the next few years.  One area that we are expanding is our new furniture division, which complements our refurbished sales division and offers customers the widest possible choice. Herbie’s appointment is key to supporting this growth and increasing the client base moving forward.

Herbie commented: “The opportunity to further expand the new furniture division of the business is one that I relish in this challenging market. The strength of ORS’s offer supports the expansion strategy and I will work with the existing team to add value to the company as well as expand the valued client base.”

ORS refurbishes 98% of the furniture which it acquires, with the remaining 2% recycled responsibly. None of the furniture is sent to landfill, thus meeting key CSR objectives for an increasing number of companies.  The environmental and commercial benefits of the service have put ORS in a strong position by providing customers with both a financial and ethical motivation to recycle.

Government targets aim to halve the amount of waste sent to landfill in 1995 by 2012. ORS has helped thousands of companies reduce their waste in accordance with these national targets and provide discounts to schools, charities and companies with heavily discounted furniture to ensure that unwanted furniture is saved from landfill.
