The British Council for Offices (BCO) has recognised Argent’s Eleven Brindleyplace as one of the finest workspaces in the Midlands & East Anglia at its annual regional awards.

Eleven Brindleyplace was named Best Commercial Workplace for being a carefully considered, high quality multi-let office building. The judges thought that this was an architecturally impressive building and a well thought out solution which can be differentiated in the marketplace.

The judges added that the developer Argent has shown it can improve the already successful Brindleyplace product by the addition of some new and innovative ideas, which has led to the estate having one of Birmingham’s first completed BREEAM Excellent buildings.

Ross Fittall, project manager for Argent commented: “We are delighted that the BCO has recognised the diligence that our project and design team put into creating a unique commercial workplace at Eleven Brindleyplace.  The award praised the building for being a carefully thought out, multi-let and innovative property with an intelligent and striking design.  It’s a huge accolade and one which is recognised across the construction industry.  Eleven Brindleyplace’s unique ground floor Meetingspace offer, combined with the flexibility provided to occupiers, raised it above the competition and, as our recent lettings have shown, are ensuring that it attracts a range of high calibre occupants.”

Tenants within Eleven Brindleyplace include landlord Argent, Colliers International, Friend LLP and the Institute of Directors West Midlands.  Situated opposite City Inn on the Brindleyplace estate, the striking 12-storey property was designed to combine outstanding architecture with an innovative commercial offer.  Features of the building include 107,000 sq ft of flexible office space, a unique Meetingspace concept complete with business lounge and Nuvo, a recently opened split-level lounge bar.

Architect Glenn Howells who designed the landmark building for Argent added: “Working with Argent to deliver the last building on the Brindleyplace estate is among our practice’s highlights. The process of developing a successful, flexible and architecturally strong building – from defining the design principles of the building through to construction phase and final delivery – is testament to the full team’s enthusiasm for and commitment to the project. This is further proven by industry recognition and the positive response to the building from tenants and visitors alike.”

Richard Kauntze, Chief Executive of the BCO, commented: “This is the second year for the BCO regional awards and we’re excited to see the bar raised by this year’s entrants. The competition was fierce, with the Midlands and East Anglia proving that they are at the forefront of top quality design and functionality. We’re thrilled that developers continue to produce first class workspaces and it’s clear to see that the future is bright for offices in the region.”

Eleven Brindleyplace will now proceed with the rest of the winners from the Regional Awards to compete at national level in October in a bid to win the ‘Best of the Best’ award.
