Christmas comes round so quickly each year, particularly at Core where we start thinking about our annual Christmas card several months ahead of the festive season.

In the autumn, we gather as a team to come up with a concept for the card, with the only brief being that it has got to make an impact, reflect the agency’s personality and be bigger and better than last year’s efforts .  We also wanted this year’s Christmas card to work across different platforms and engage the recipient in some way, working in tandem with the Core website and Twitter account @CoreBirmingham.

Following the notion that the simplest ideas are always the best, we came up with the concept of a Christmas card that becomes a Christmas party hat.  The studio team ran with the idea, with designer Steve Harris creating a Christmas elf character for each Core team member.  We all agreed not to take offence; in fact we all breathed a sigh of relief as previous years had seen our faces superimposed onto baubles hung on a 3D Christmas tree!

So now we’ve done the hard work for this year, it’s over to you while we put our feet up and enjoy a festive tipple and a mince pie.  We’re challenging you to don your party hat and take a photograph of yourself wearing it.  You can then either email your pic to hello@core-marketing.co.uk or send it via Twitter to @CoreBirmingham, and we will upload it to the Christmas Crowning Glory Gallery on our website.  Be creative, have fun and there will be a prize for the most inventive photograph – or the one that simply makes us all laugh out loud…just look at it as good practice for the office Christmas Party!
