As we are fast approaching the big day, we creatively explored the way Birmingham has changed so much over the past 12 months. With Santa shortly coming to the city, will he recognise the place, with its spectacular new developments, dramatic demolitions and sparkling renovations from Colmore Row to the Library of Birmingham?
With our festive ode to the city centre we are encouraging you to put quill to paper – or fingers to keyboards – to get your creative juices flowing and come up with your very own lyrical letter for the Christmas period.
So get your thinking caps on and release your inner William Wordsworth, Emily Dickinson, Edward Lear or Benjamin Zephaniah and amaze us with your poetic creativity. Can you beat our current leader Donna Smith at Connells? Here is her brilliant entry…
Thank you so much for your Christmas ditty
Delivered so thoughtfully, and awfully pretty,
Your tales of Santa in our lovely town Brum
Brightened my day when I was feeling glum
I love a good poem, as you can probably see
Thoroughly enjoyable and a treat for me
So thank you at Core for your unique Christmas cheer
I’ll see you up the German Market and we can share a beer!
