Cat – I had always kept lizards as a child due to allergies but my wife convinced me to buy her a Siamese kitten with the understanding that if it affected my allergies, we would have to get rid of it. Khan is now 8 years old and I couldn’t live without a cat

When I was a kid I really wanted to be a dustbin man. Not much of an ambition I know, and I think it was more to do with driving the lorry than picking up everyone’s rubbish.

Cat or Dog:

Easiest question here; cat without doubt. Cuddly, affectionate, impossibly cute, self-reliant and great stress relievers.

Inspiration:

I wish I had a big, clever answer, but the truth is I can be inspired by anything; the pattern on a bus seat, an overheard conversation, the smell of fresh doughnuts. Everything is inspiration if you’ve got your senses open.

Favourite thing about Birmingham:

The self-deprecating humour, humility and complete lack of pretentiousness that’s ingrained in every Brummie.

Why Core:

Well, it’s only Day Two, but it has to be the people. I felt incredibly welcome and part of the team before I’d even taken my coat off.

I worked for Core before I left for New Zealand. One thing remains the same now I’ve returned, a really high standard of work and always a great place to be.
