Need drives demand

This month we’re pleased to feature an article by James Donagh at Barton Wilmore on the disconnect between the government’s standardised housing requirement calculations and the stated need to deliver 300,000 homes every year.

We follow the news agenda actively and through our founding membership of the Land Promoters & Developers Federation (LPDF), argue in favour of the role that strategic land promotion plays in helping to deliver the homes and communities the country needs.

With that in mind, read more later in this newsletter about responses to the new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and how our membership of the LPDF is helping shape the industry’s responses to issues like Land Value Capture.

We also continue to await further details from some of the local and national plans, including city-region spatial strategies and district plans which are so important to the way we can bring sites forward in helping to meet demand for new homes.

We continue to work on our portfolio of sites and still hope there will be a record number of disposals for the business this year, which would be a marvellous way to celebrate our 15th anniversary as a business.

As you may know, Lisa Facer left the team in October, and we are pleased to welcome Ellie Cudmore who joins us as Team Administrator. We thank Lisa for her hard work and wish Ellie all the best for her future with us.

It’s already been a busy year, and one in which we can see the demand for our services as a business, and the number of enquiries we receive, rising. This reflects the position of the market and the underlying demand for housing in the UK despite fears around Brexit and other factors outside of our control.

15th Anniversary Celebrations

Thanks to clients and contacts old and new who came along to our 15th anniversary celebrations in Birmingham last month. As well as food and drink, we put on some entertainment and even had a few surprise moments! We did our very best to put on a good show and hope everyone there had fun.
